Appreciation certificates for the authors of “Loving the Profession” and “Professions for You” films

The project Let’s Make a Movie 2023, launched by Geotechmin, Ellatzite-Med and Harlequin Association, was completed with two official screenings of “Loving Your Profession” and “Professions for You” films in the towns of Etropole and Zlatitsa

The events were attended by students, teachers and school principals from 3 partner schools in Etropole Municipality and 10 partner schools in the municipalities of Srednogorie region. Media representatives were also present, including Mr Daniel Chipev, Deputy Director “News and Current Affairs” at Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and Mrs Maria Cherneva, a journalist at BNT. While watching the documentaries, the guests learnt more about the professions of a mine surveyor, a geologist, an IT specialist, a front-end loader operator, a heavy truck driver, an HSE expert, an electrical I&A engineer, a mechanical engineer, an ore-dressing engineer, and a TMF technologist.

Among the official guests were the Mayor of Etropole Municipality M.Eng. Vladimir Aleksandrov and the Mayor of Zlatitsa Municipality M.Eng. Lyubomir Tsvetkov. During the event, the students-authors of the films explained how they collaborated with Ellatzite-Med specialists during the film-making process. The youngsters were so impressed to get a first-hand look at copper mining and processing operations. The mining professionals from Ellatzite Mine and the Flotation Plant, who had taken part in the films, shared why they loved their jobs and how documentary filmmaking had been a challenging but rewarding experience for them.

Dr Rositsa Mladenova, Harlequin Festival Director, handed out appreciation certificates to the young talents for successfully passing Level 1 “Introduction to Filmmaking Basics and Film Professions”. She said that the project was extremely successful, adding that the documentaries will be presented at a film festival in Rome in March 2024.

‘I would like to extend my deep gratitude to Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med, and especially to Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov who stood behind the project and was personally interested in the children’s progress in filmmaking,’ she said.

Let’s Make a Movie is a multi-component project implemented with the support of Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med. It gives students the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge about filmmaking and television and, along with that, to raise their interest in key professions in the mining industry which is the main source of livelihood in Etropole and Srednogorie regions.
