Mining professionals from all over the world have visited Ellatzite Mine Complex
At the end of June, Bulgaria hosted the prestigious international mining and exploration forum MINEX Europe 2019. It was organised by Advantix Ltd in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT), EIT Raw Materials, Geological Institute of Romania, Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology, the Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy, the University of Mining and Geology “St Ivan Rilski”, and with the financial support of Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Dundee Precious Metals, etc.
More than 190 delegates from 130 companies and 26 countries participated in the Forum under the central theme ‘The Future of Sustainable Mining in the Balkans and Beyond’.
Two experts from GEOTECHMIN GROUP gave presentations during the two-day programme – Mr Vladislav Trashliev, Director of Geology and Concessions Department at Geotechmin OOD and M.Eng. Mladen Nedkov, Deputy IT Director at Ellatzite-Med AD. They described in detail the global digital and technology innovations that had transformed key aspects of mining and flotation processes in Ellatzite-Med AD.
According to Vladislav Trashliev, the companies from GEOTECHMIN GROUP are among the first to deploy intelligent mining solutions. Their proven expertise and experience are highly esteemed not only in Bulgaria, but also abroad.
On 27 June, 18 delegates of the Forum visited Ellatzite mine – one of the largest open-pit mines in Europe. Specialists from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), research institutes and companies from various countries went on a guided tour to Ellatzite Mine Complex. They got familiarised with the innovative projects and process digitization implemented throughout the mine. These include the following advanced systems: industrial process automation, fleet management, slope stability control and monitoring, etc.
The guests expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Bulgarian company for its hospitality. They emphasized that Ellatzite-Med and Geotechmin’s specialists are among the world’s best professionals.

After the visit to Ellatzite Mine Complex, the Executive Director of MINEX Forum Mr Arthur Polyakov said, ‘I am delighted to see how your mine is developing so successfully. Our main perspective was to highlight Bulgaria as a mining country and the extreme importance of the mining industry for the development of society and humanity.’
