Ellatzite-Med AD, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, has won a special honorary award in the category “Investment with High Contribution to Regional Development” at the Investor of the Year 2025 competition organized by InvestBulgaria Agency.
The company was nominated for its project Construction of a Third Wastewater Treatment Plant at Ellatzite Mine, which reflects its long-term commitment to responsible mining, environmental protection and improving the quality of life for local communities in Etropole and Srednogorie regions.
The award was presented by Deputy Foreign Minister Velizar Shalamanov to M.Eng. Georgi Petrov, Director of Mining and Processing of Metallic Minerals Department at Ellatzite-Med AD.
At the award ceremony, Mr Shalamanov emphasized the importance of long-term investments with social impact, stating: ‘It is an honor to recognize a mining company that drives innovation and invests not only in production, but also in education, healthcare and the well-being of the people in Srednogorie region. This historic region played a vital role in Bulgaria’s liberation 150 years ago and continues to help position our country as a modern industrial power in Europe and the world.’
M.Eng. Georgi Petrov replied: ‘It is a great privilege, standing on this stage, to receive this plaque on behalf of Ellatzite-Med team. As part of this initiative, which has recognized investors in Bulgaria for 20 years, we are being awarded for the second time – a testament to our consistency and commitment to investing and creating value, both in the region and in mining production.
We are firmly committed to the sustainable development of local communities in Srednogorie and Etropole regions, and we strongly believe that modern industry must go hand in hand with environmental stewardship. Together with Geotechmin OOD, we have implemented numerous donation projects through the Bulgarian Virtues, Our Green Tomorrow and other charitable programmes, all focused on improving the well-being of people in the regions where we operate.’
The initiative was held for the 20th consecutive year by InvestBulgaria Agency, which also marked its 30th anniversary. The awards recognize companies whose activities contribute to Bulgaria’s economic development, innovations and sustainable growth.
