M.Eng. Stoil Dimitrov Awards Journalist Vladilava Trichkova at Worthy Bulgarians 2026
Twenty-nine Bulgarians were honoured at the official Worthy Bulgarians 2026 ceremony organized by the 24 Hours Daily. They received appreciation awards and a specially produced front page of the newspaper featuring their names. Each of them has done a good deed, helped someone in need or saved a life. Driven by empathy, these remarkable Bulgarians have eased the suffering of others, proving that kindness exists and can truly change lives. For another consecutive year, Geotechmin OOD has supported this initiative honouring people with kind and compassionate hearts.
M.Eng. Stoil Dimitrov, General Director of Ellatzite-Med AD, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, presented the award to Vladislava Trichkova, an investigative journalist at bTV. Through her work, she gives a voice to people in need, following their stories over time and ensuring they are not forgotten.
‘A person’s story can spark significant change – often across society, and sometimes even in legislation. This is where the strength and purpose of the Fourth Estate lie: in truthful reporting that acts as a corrective force and helps build a country governed by clear rules, strong laws and a mature society,’ said M.Eng. Dimitrov upon presenting the award. The journalist also received a specially produced front page honouring her as a Worthy Bulgarian.
‘I have never been on the front page before and this one is particularly important. Unfortunately, I often present the lead story on the news, though rarely with good news to share. I understand the responsibility that comes with our profession and I believe that even in difficult stories we can always find something good,’ said Vladislava Trichkova.
President Iliana Iotova shared her thoughts on the Worthy Bulgarians: ‘They are not loud; they do not seek the spotlight or attention. They simply believe it is better to do their duty quietly. They open their hearts and souls to others and know when the time is right to lend a helping hand – not because someone tells them to do so, but because of their inner conviction. They do not hesitate when action is needed. They cherish the gratitude and smiles their actions bring to others. They do not promote themselves or seek recognition, which is precisely what makes them indispensable.’
Among the official guests attending the event were Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva, former Caretaker Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairman Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Mihaylova, and representatives of the business community and the actors’ guild.
