Ellatzite-Med presented a high-tech industrial drone at HELLO, SPACE | Bulgaria Calling 6.0 Youth Science Festival and HELLO, SPACE | STEAM Careers Fair, both held at Sofia Tech Park.
For yet another year, Geotechmin supported the festival, reaffirming its belief that investing in young people’s knowledge, skills and inspiration is an investment in Bulgaria’s future. Ellatzite-Med, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, has been one of the most prominent participants at the technology forum for several years, consistently attracting young people’s interest with its innovative solutions.
The company presents the cutting-edge technologies used by its engineers to demonstrate that modern mining is a high-tech industry offering numerous opportunities for professional development and career growth.
This year, children and young people with a passion for science had the opportunity to discover how an industrial drone is used in the design and development of Ellatzite Mine.
‘Using the images captured by the drone, we generate a three-dimensional model of the mine’s surface. Specialized software stitches the images together and extracts the data they contain. This information is then provided to the mine designers, who use it to plan the mine’s development,’ said M.Eng. Ivan Vasilev, head of Geotechnical Department at Ellatzite-Med.
The Human Resources team – Mrs Milena Hristova, Mrs Daniela Goranova and Mrs Mariana Vateva – introduced the young visitors to the history of the mine, the high-tech machinery used in its operations and the wide range of career opportunities available at the Mine and Flotation Complexes.
The high school students showed keen interest in learning which degree programmes to choose and which universities to attend in order to pursue a career at Ellatzite-Med, one of Europe’s most digitized mining companies.
