Zlatitsa Municipality awards Honorary Citizenship to Prof. Tzolo Voutov

  • The honorary title is conferred in recognition of decade-long, significant contribution to the mining industry, education and community advancement
At an official ceremony, Zlatitsa Municipality awarded the title “Honorary Citizen” to Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov, , an entrepreneur, public figure, scientist, and philanthropist. The title was bestowed as a token of recognition for his long-standing contribution to the economic, demographic, social and cultural development of the municipality and Srednogorie region.
Through investments made by GEOTECHMIN GROUP, along with donations and socially significant initiatives under the Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme, Prof. Voutov has played an important role in improving public infrastructure, education and quality of life in Zlatitsa Municipality and Srednogorie region. Key donation projects were highlighted at the ceremony, as follows:
  • Modernisation of municipal infrastructure: road paving, street repairs, and water supply system improvements
  • Renovation of health centres in the villages of Petrich, Tsarkvishte and Karlievo
  • Modernisation of the local police station and renovation of children’s playgrounds
  • Our Green Tomorrow initiative: planting trees and shrubs through donations and volunteer labour from the Group’s employees, local community representatives, and students.
  • Support for dual education in Zlatitsa
  • Equipment donations to Slantse Kindergarten
  • Donation of a new car to support the “Home Social Patronage” service, which delivers daily hot meals to elderly and vulnerable residents across the municipality.
  • Donation of a new garbage collection truck and all-terrain vehicles
  • Donation of an excavator and ancillary equipment to municipal utility service centres
  • Long-term financial support for cultural, sports, tourism events, and municipal festivals
During the ceremony, the Chairman of Zlatitsa Municipal Council Mr Mladen Medarov handed over the Municipal Council’s resolution, saying: ‘It is a great honour for us that you are here among us, doing so many good things for our beloved town.’ Mayor M.Eng. Lyubomir Tsvetkov then presented the Honorary Citizen Plaque bearing the coat of arms of Zlatitsa, stating: ‘You have contributed to the advancement of Zlatitsa Municipality and to raising the living standard and well-being of the entire community. I wish you plenty of good health and resilience in all your endeavours. May you be blessed! From the bottom of my heart, I hope that our partnership, which has existed for years, will continue,’ said Mr Tsvetkov.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Voutov expressed his deep gratitude and highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation between business, local authorities and citizens. ‘This is a very high appreciation, but it is not for me; it is, first and foremost, for the teams with whom I have worked and continue to work, for the people from Ellatzite-Med AD, because we have always worked together to improve the standard of living in Zlatitsa.’ He added that the most valuable thing is ‘to work and achieve results together, both in business and in the municipality, in the best interest of people and society at large.’ Prof. Voutov also noted that most of the initiatives undertaken by the Group had been proposed by representatives of the local community. ‘When we work together, when we improve the standard of living, this is immediately felt by the public.’
The event was attended by municipal councilors, senior managers from Ellatzite-Med AD, representatives of Geotechmin OOD, Mr Toma Naydenov – Honorary Citizen of Zlatitsa Municipality, as well as numerous local residents.
The ceremony concluded with a performance of the song “My Country, My Bulgaria” by the talented young singer Aleksandra Bacheva.
