Online competitions
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when large-scale events were not possible, GEOTECHMIN GROUP continued to engage its employees’ children through online competitions that encouraged creativity, talent cultivation and imagination. These initiatives aimed to support young people in their personal development and provide opportunities for self-expression despite the imposed restrictions.
Each year, the competitions centered on a different theme reflecting current social issues and values. In 2020, at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the theme “The Power of Kindness” invited participants to share, through literary works and drawings, their thoughts on mutual support, empathy and the importance of good deeds during challenging times.
In 2021, the competition themes “My Favourite Hero” and “Never Stop Learning” offered children an opportunity to present their inspirations and personal role models through digital images and written texts. Their favourite heroes ranged from historical figures such as Vasil Levski and fictional characters like Spider-Man to people from their everyday lives, most often their parents. Many teenagers also expressed the view that life itself is the greatest teacher.
The next edition of the competition was titled “My Garden”, focused on fostering practical skills and a sense of responsibility. The participants planted and nurtured basil and geraniums, documenting the plants’ growth and the care they provided throughout the process.
In 2023, designated as the European Year of Skills, the “I Can Do It” competition enabled children to showcase their abilities in various fields – from singing and drawing to cooking, sports and other activities reflecting their personal interests and talents.
Each year, the creative works and performances are evaluated by an authoritative jury comprising poets, designers, artists and journalists. Their expertise ensures objective and professional assessment of the participants.
