Let’s Make a Movie 2025: Empowering Young Artists

With impressive achievements and national acclaim, the Let’s Make a Movie educational project concluded its 2025 edition under GEOTECHMIN GROUP’s corporate social responsibility programme. More than 100 students from 13 schools in Etropole Municipality and Srednogorie region participated in the initiative, which aimed to develop their digital and creative skills while sparking their interest in the mining industry through the art of filmmaking.
Dedicated to three momentous anniversaries – 50 years since the founding of Ellatzite-Med, 25 years in GEOTECHMIN GROUP, and 35 years since the establishment of Geotechmin – the project highlights topics related to copper production and its role in the future. The result: 13 short documentaries exploring the importance of copper, its future applications and the responsible use of natural resources. These documentaries were compiled into a single film titled The Precious Copper, featuring an AI-generated virtual presenter.

The young artists’ efforts received well-deserved recognition at the Harlequin Children and Youth Media Art Festival in Varna, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science. The project participants won three prestigious awards, presented by Deputy Minister Tanya Mihaylova:

  • Best Documentary Award including a Diploma and Harlequin Statuette, awarded for a large-scale joint project implemented by the teams from Etropole Municipality and Srednogorie region.
  • A Diploma and Harlequin Statuette, awarded to the team from Hristo Botev Primary School in the village of Lopyan for their film Copper, in recognition of their responsible, professional and ethical approach to creating a media product.
  • A Diploma for Original Idea and Innovative Approach, awarded to the team from Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School in the village of Chavdar for their creative use of multi-camera filming and original musical composition.
The Let’s Make a Movie project is part of the Group’s philanthropic initiatives, supported by Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov. It has been implemented in partnership by Geotechmin, Ellatzite-Med and Harlequin Association for the third consecutive year, demonstrating the value of cooperation between business, education, and the arts.
