Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med Honoured with Excellence Awards by the Bulgarian Energy and Mining Forum
The Bulgarian Energy and Mining Forum (BEMF) honoured Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med with Excellence Awards for their outstanding achievements in the mining industry during an official ceremony on 16 December 2025. The awards were presented by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov to M.Eng. Dragomir Draganov, Executive Director of Ellatzite-Med, in the presence of members of the Bulgarian National Assembly, deputy ministers, senior managers of leading institutions, and experts.
‘Thanks to the activities of Ellatzite-Med and all related companies, Bulgaria is proud to rank among the top five copper producers in Europe – a critical raw material for the energy transition. I wish you every success and I strongly believe that you will continue to invest in Bulgaria, as this is vital for creating new job opportunities,’ said Mr Stankov
‘The Bulgarian mining industry is exploiting some of the world’s lowest-grade mineral deposits. Nevertheless, we are operating them successfully in an economically efficient and sustainable manner,’ said M.Eng. Dragomir Draganov. He added that the investments planned by Ellatzite-Med for the life-of-mine extension project through 2041 will exceed BGN 2.5 billion and will contribute to mine modernization and the creation of new jobs.
The BEMF presented its annual awards in 12 categories. The nominations were evaluated by a prestigious 20-member jury chaired by Mr Anton Ivanov, an energy expert and member of the BEMF Management Board. The ceremony gives well-deserved recognition to companies, institutions and individuals who have consistently contributed to the advancement of the Bulgarian energy and mining industries through their long-standing work and professionalism.
