Dominic Hamers awards young talents at Bulgaria’s Excellent Students Initiative
On the eve of 1st November, the Day of Bulgaria’s National Awakeners, Geotechmin OOD once again supported the Excellent Students of Bulgaria initiative, organised by the 24 Chasa Daily (24 Hours). The initiative honours students with outstanding achievements in science, arts and sports, giving well-deserved recognition to exceptional young talents and inspiring them to stay in Bulgaria and contribute to the country’s development.
Mr Dominic Hamers, Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD, presented awards to Katerina Getova, Yoana Yordanova, Tsvetelina Tsonkova and Martin Andreev from Acad. Ivan Tsenov High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the town of Vratsa. The students won first place in this year’s European Nuclear Competition for Secondary Schools, held in Bologna, Italy. Damyan Ivanov from Sofia High School of Mathematics was also honoured with an award – an appreciation certificate and a badge – after winning a gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Dubai, UAE.
‘I wish them every success on their path ahead – to continue their education, fulfill their dreams and demonstrate that educated people can change the world, making it safer, better, greener, and more digitized. May they become a driving force for change, opinion leaders and influencers in science,’ said the Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD, addressing the students with the words: ‘I believe that one day you will be among the world’s most successful scientists! I invite you to Ellatzite-Med to see one of the most modern and digitally advanced mines – how we care for the environment, manage water resources, and recultivate the land. Come and see a company where science is truly put into practice!’
Award winners Damyan Ivanov and Yoana Yordanova expressed their heartfelt gratitude for being honoured. ‘Even when we sometimes feel small, we must keep dreaming big – because big dreams are what lead us to great achievements,’ Yoana added.
‘We need to recognize outstanding children, especially on the eve of National Awakeners’ Day. Each of us can be an awakener when we inspire others and promote the values of education, spirituality, kindness, and patriotism,’ said Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev at the official award-giving ceremony. It was held at the Serdika Center – MINA Museum in Sofia, bringing together students, their teachers and inspiring figures from the worlds of business and science.
‘Be brave and curious,’ advised Mrs Venelina Gocheva, Publisher of 24 Chasa Daily, noting that such qualities help transform knowledge into real success.
