Employer: Road Infrastructure Agency
Contractor: “Struma Lot 3.3” Consortium (comprising Patstroy-92 AD and Geostroy AD)
Project implementation period: 2015 – 2018
Description of the project:
Patstroy-92 AD and Geostroy AD together with their partners from “Struma Lot 3.3” Consortium started the construction of Lot 3.3 between Kresna and Sandanski from km 397+000 to km 420+624 under the project Struma Motorway – Lot 3.
It is a design-build project co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund and the state budget under the Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014-2020.
Lot 3.3 section is about 24 km long. The larger part of Struma Motorway alignment passes parallel to the Struma River and the existing road E-79. The project envisages construction of two road junctions within this section - near the village of Strumyani and near the town of Sandanski. In addition, 27 large bridge structures in total length of 2,985 m are to be erected, four recreation grounds, 16 local and agriculture road crossings as well as several crossings for utility communication networks.
For the first time in a motorway project in Bulgaria, Intelligent Transport Systems are going to be installed and integrated in the new Lot 3.3 section. They provide innovative solutions for vehicle counting and classification, real-time traffic management, weigh-in-motion and weather monitoring stations.
