A Bulgarian delegation led by the Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy Dr. Eng. Tzolo Voutov attended the 21st World Mining Congress in Poland. The Bulgarian participants, among whom scientists and experts from Ellatzite-Med AD, successfully presented 8 reports of high scientific and practical value.

On 6 September 2008, the 89th Symposium of the International Organization Committee of the World Mining Congress was held at the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow. The event included a presentation about the preparations for the next XXII World Mining Congress, which will take place in Istanbul in 2011.

The 17th International Conference on Automation in Mining ICAMC 2008 was held during the mining forum, September 9 – 12. About 300 companies took part in EXPO SILESIA in Sosnowiec.

The Congress ended with the acceptance of the Krakow Declaration. It outlines the obligations which countries have to undertake in order to solve the problems of the mining industry and to ensure its sustainable development.
