Organizers of the event were the Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy, Bulgaria and Minstroy Holding AD. One of the co-organizers was Geotechmin OOD. The company president Tzolo Voutov was the chairman of the organizing committee.

AIESEC-Bulgaria – one of the largest international students associations – organized for a third year in a row “Business in Practice” – an initiative which contributes to the strengthening of the relation between the corporate sector and education. Participants in the business simulation were 100 students from leading Bulgarian universities.

With the aim of sharing experience in the construction of tunnels and metropolitan railways and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Sofia Metro, an international conference on tunnel and metro construction was held in Sofia.

The contribution of Bulgaria – the host country of the constituent Balkan mining congress (September 2005, Varna) – to the unification of mining specialists from the region, to the creation of the Balkan Mining Association and to the success of BALKANMIN’05 as well as the great services rendered to this initiative by dipl. eng. Tzolo Voutov – a chairman of the Bulgarian National Mining Committee – were greatly appraised.
