The successful completion of the construction of Metrostation 9-I “Vassil Levski Stadium”, implemented in close cooperation with the Japanese specialists from Taisei Corporation, has raised Geotechmin’s confidence in its ability for independent realization of such underground projects. The company, which competed with eight local and foreign firms, won the tender for “Design and Construction of Metrostation 11-II with adjoining tunnel section and an underground car-park above the two facilities”. In April 2009 Geotechmin signed a contract with Metropoliten EAD for this part of the second metro-diameter of Sofia Metro.

Metrostation 11-II will be situated under Cherni Vrah Blvd, in the immediate proximity of Kempinski Hotel Zografski Sofia. The project includes design and construction of a station, a metrotunnel and an underground car-park, all of which will be built according to traditional “bottom to up” method. The metrostation will be entirely under the ground level and will be constructed on three, four or five floors in particular sections. Its multi-floor design is determined by the highly inclined terrain. The metrotunnel next to the station in the direction of Hladilnika district will be built on the third underground level. On the second and first levels above the tunnel a car-park will be constructed. In view of the project logistics, the works will be extremely complex due to the specific location of the site – under Cherni Vrah Blvd.
