Description of the project:

The main contractor of LOT B2 was M.A. Al-Kharafi & Sons W.L.L. and ADMAK GENERAL CONTRACTING W.L.L. JOINT VENTURE. Geotechmin OOD was selected as the main local subcontractor.

1) Subproject “Bulk Earthworks, Drainage and Airfield Facilities” includes the following works:

• Topsoil excavation – 560,000 cub.m.
• Excavation works for the design levels achievement – 586,750 cub.m.
• Excavation & backfilling works – 2,145,350 cub.m.
• Selected fill and frost-protection layer – 180,000 cub.m.
• Reinforcement concrete pipe culverts – 1,180 m
• Concrete-lined ditch – 18,750 sq.m.
• Subsurface drains – 12,000 m
• Concrete works – foundations of ground lighting facilities, transformer shafts, etc. – 3,000 cub.m.
• Temporary dyke across existing gravel pit and dewatering of artificial lake with est. volume of 1 million cub.m.

2) Subproject “Strengthening of Iskar River” includes the following works:

• Excavations – 129,148 cub.m.
• Backfill works (including rock fill) – 82,630 cub.m.
• Concrete works – 5,700 cub.m.
• Cell geosystem 15 cm – 3,500 sq.m.; cell geosystem 20 cm – 21,300 sq.m.
• RENO mattresses – 13,100 sq.m.
• Grassing – 70,516 sq.m.
