Description of the project:

Geotechmin OOD implemented this project jointly with OEC Bulgaria EOOD. The main purpose of the project is the building of a tailings pond for waste produced by the industrial activities of Umicore Med AD. The pond is located north of the Umicore plant and its total area is more than 150,000 sq.m.

• Excavation works – 1,361,200 cub.m.
• Compacted fill for embankment – 1,063,200 cub.m.
• Perimeter and service roads
• Steel pipeline with diameter 273/8 mm with pump station for fayalite refuse – 3,235 m
• Pipeline HDPE, diameter 315 mm – 1,970 m
• Perforated HDPE pipeline, diameter 100 mm – 5,380 m
• Pipeline HDPE, diameter 250 mm – 1,170 m
• Pipeline HDPE, diameter 100 mm – 500 m
• Protection package HDPE liner and geotextile – 145,000 sq.m.
• Drainage collection pond – protection package HDPE liner and geotextile – 2,300 sq.m.
• Piezometers – 840 m
• Concrete fence – 2,400 m
• Concrete ditches – 680 m
